Review Volunteer JP Christy in Kathmandu, Nepal at the Animal welfare Centre
Volunteer Nepal
How were the local Coordinator and the staff and the support provided in-country?
The arrival and coordination experience was very good, he picked me up promptly, showed me local transportation and picked up a local phone for me. He also found a printer and translated for me for an Animal welfare project.
What was the most surprising thing you experienced while in the program?
I was pleasantly surprised at the level of professionalism at the Animal welfare Center and its success statistics are impressive.
What was the most difficult thing you experienced while in the program?
The language barrier was challenging but not impossible. Because of other recent projects, I have focused on learning Spanish rather than Nepali.
Any tips for future volunteers….(clothing, travel information, packing, sightseeing, donations)
Remember to bring a flashlight and carry a roll of toilet paper (outside of the host family house)
Other things volunteers should know:
The local food is somewhat spicy. I enjoyed it.

5. Personal Paragraph (volunteer program testimonial):
Having worked with a street dog rescue in Peru, I had some idea what to expect. However, the passion, professionalism, and organization at Animal welfare center were superior to what I found in Peru. Animal welfare center does important work and does it well.
How would you describe your accommodation, meals, security?
I felt safe and comfortable in my homestay. The family was welcoming and the food was good also I was able to take hot showers.
What was your memory of this trip?
That there is as much opportunity in Nepal as there is a need. And the people are very friendly.
