1- How was the local ABV Coordinator and the support provided in-country?

They were wonderful. I never felt alone and they were with me every step of the way. I think they both deserve a raise J

2- What was the most surprising thing you experienced?

To be honest, I wasn´t really surprised by anything, except the earthquakes.

3- What was most difficult to experience?

It was sad and hard at first to see so many children without a home and how many needed care. It was tiring every day to care for so many children, but they all need love, cuddles and kindness. So it was worth it.

4- Any tips for future volunteers… (clothing, travel, personal items, donations)

It would be a good idea to have an emergency fund of $300 or so, in case you need medication or you get sick.
I would plan on spending more than $75 per week, if you plan on going on weekend adventures, go out to eat a lot, or want miscellaneous stuff in town.

When I was in Guatemala, the ABV staff treated me with kindness, compassion and love. I will always be grateful that they were in my life while I was here.

7- How would you describe your accommodation, meals, security (e: host family, on-site, shared)

They were great! I had a room to myself and the host mom treated me like one of her own. I always felt safe and secure, and was overly fed, which was awesome!

8- What was your favorite memory of this trip?

When I got sick, I discovered the good in humanity, and their compassion, kindness and love. No one had to help me, but they did anyway, just because I was human, which I will never forget.

9- How was the ABV USA support prior traveling?

They were wonderful. I never felt I was a burden for asking so many questions. It was a very smooth process.

10 – Are you willing to speak to other potential ABV volunteers?

Yes!
