Volunteer Name: Lisa Piraino
Project Location: Belize
Volunteered at: Orphanage Home
My Favorite Memory: I brought markers and coloring pages for the children and they loved to show me their talents.
I was surprised that….
The children are so well behaved.
The most difficult thing I experienced was…..
Adjusting to the heat and having to buy bottled water.
My best received lesson…..
Do not be afraid to take risks and become a part of the community surrounding Liberty.
Tip for future volunteers…..
Stay very hydrated! Also experience the surrounding island and caves.
Personal paragraph (Testimonial):
Throw yourself into the action. The kids love to see you interested in what they like to do. Also meet as many people as you can! Absorb it all!
How would you rate your experience working with the ABV staff, both in the USA and in country?
Extremely positive. The US ABV staff and orphanage staff made me feel welcome and safe
How would you describe your accommodation (i.e.: host family, on-site, shared housing etc.)
The accommodation is basic but everything you need. Bring all toiletries/ cleaning supplies.
Are you willing to speak to other potential ABV volunteers?
Absolutely!
